Camp Create

One of the VBS style camps my kids attended was camp create.  I really, really liked this idea.  It was based on Genisis that God created the world & that we have a creative creator.  Basically they asked members of the church what their gifts were.  They responded with things like Creative Cooking, cake making, legos, mosaics, gardening, dance, karate, etc.  When you signed your child up you labled the choices one to twenty five in the order that your child would like to do them.  They were put in one main class (one hour long) and two side classes (30 min each) each night.   The main choice they went to each night.  Eli got Legos for his main choice and Noah got cartooning
This really helped Eli build his confidence with Legos. He came home and played with his legos after camp.

At the end of the week he was given this cool lego set to go home and work on.

Mosaics was one of the classes
I LOVED the frames
Eli with his frame
Both boys frames
sock puppets was another class, they made a dog and a sheep
yarnation was cute.  two cute little yarn lambs

This is  a great idea & I think its a way to get a lot of chuch members involved sharing their skills.  Many people asked for an adult "camp create"  I think that is a great idea too.  You could have a lot of fun with it.  Photography etc.  Love it!

Week 4 - VBS

I signed the kids up for 5 VBS this summer.  Two day time VBS (Noah went to one, and they both went to one)  Two night time, one was an actual VBS at our church and one was a Art camp at my moms church.  They have one more art camp coming up later in the summer.

They had a great time learning about God this summer

Week 3 - Mommy and Eli Week

Mommy and Eli Week

This week is pretty flexible because it's Elis week, pretty much what ever he wants to do, with in reason we are doing it.

The kids are pretty tired this week.  In addition to Art Camp last week they did VBS at our Church - Amazing Wonders.  The night time VBS's are hard on the kids Eli's age.  You can see crafts they did last week, Here, here and here

This week Noah is going to a day time VBS - Zapped, which I have to say is pretty cool, and then they are both doing a night time VBS/art camp at my moms church.  We are all pretty exhausted this week, so they have mandatory rest time after lunch.

Here is what we did this week:
Monday - Mommy & Eli made brownies

Tuesday -played video games -
I like the Kinect because even though they are playing a game, they move.

Wednesday - Movie Day

Thursday - Video Games &Movie Day & made brownies

Friday - Play date & Chick-fli-a

Planes

We did another SUPER cute craft in VBS,  This one takes longer than 20 min to dry, so you need to have a drying station & send it home the next day with the kiddos

 All the kits set out.
You can accomplish the same thing with a clothes pin, a button, a piece of foam (cut like propeller) two small Popsicle sticks, and two medium size Popsicle sticks
The clothes pin is the body of the plane, you glue the medium sticks at the front, the smaller sticks at the back then the propeller and the button on the nose.  Then you can paint it, or your child could color it with markers.

Stain Glass

We did a super cute stain glass craft the first day in VBS.  Here is what you need to make this.

Tissue paper, all different colors

Cut your shape out of construstion paper.  We did a cross, but you could do a heart for valentines day, or a flag, or a pumpkin, turkey, snow man.  You name it this would be cute for any holiday.

Open the paper and out line one side with glue

Place tissue paper on glued side

Glue oppiside side & close

Add string and decorate.

Beautiful!

Windsocks

I am co-assiatant at VBS at our church this year.  YEAH!  So much fun, since I LOVE crafts.  I was not involved with any of the planning BUT I get to help assymble everything when the kiddos come in.  We get about 20-30 kids at a time and there are 4 groups.  This one was fun!

Here is the table all set up for our visitors

We have card stock, (two holes punched in the top), streamers, our bible verse on coloring paper and a pretty cross.

The children colored the coloring sheets while an adult came around and stapled the card stock and the streamers, then the child glued the cross and verses to the wind sock

Beautiful!  Then when it blows in the wind you will remember that God is like the wind, you cant see him but you can see his effects, just like you can see the wind blowing your wind sock!
